Cell-based church, ok, but any Biblical evidence?
In the Old Testament, God’s chosen nation of Israel was structured and organized on the principle of cells e.g there were 12 tribes, clans, families and households. Whenever God wanted to do something among his people, He would use the smallest units. For example the first Passover meal and eventual departure from Egypt was organized at household (cell) level Exodus 12:1-4. Other examples are Joshua 7:14-18.
In the New Testament, the 5000-people congregation fed by Jesus was divided into smaller units (Mark 6:35-40), the 72 disciples who went to evangelize in Luke 10:1 were deployed in small groups – two by two, and Jesus ministered to small groups whenever he moved from house to house e.g Martha and Mary (Luke 10:38), the prominent Pharisee’s house (Luke 14:1-14), etc
Does it depend on me?
Yes, on you and everybody! The success of a cell-based church like of any other organization depends on support from everybody. We want everybody to be involved – individual persons each playing his or her small role to accomplish the bigger task. Besides, choosing not to embrace the vision wouldn’t be the ideal thing to opt for because the body of Christ must be one and unity.
Why not say, “If that is the will of God, then I will do it!”
